Why Did You Start Backpacking?
I started backpacking as a child when I was in Royal Rangers. From there, I have carried a passion for the outdoors most of my life. In 2015, I saw a close friend die suddenly in front of me which caused me to focus on my health. Since 2015, I have been an avid backpacker and hike almost every weekend to help enhance my mind, body and soul.
What Advice Do You Have For New Backpackers?
Buy once, cry once. Don't spend a fortune trying to buy all your gear at once. Start slowly, do the research and then buy the gear you want. If you substitute, you will end up spending twice as much on gear.
What is your Favorite Trail?
The Appalachian Trail is my favorite trail because of the history I have had on this trail since my childhood. It is a dream to thru hike the Appalachian Trail one day starting at Springer Mountain.
What was your favorite backpacking trip?
My favorite backpacking trip is when I met up with the team from the Pinhoti Mafia to hike the Fiery Gizzard Trail. It was the first time I got to hike with other like minded people that have a true passion for the outdoors.
